Designed as the first fully electric Trail RatedĀ® SUV, the 2026 JeepĀ® Recon combines standard electric four-wheel drive with removable open-air components, a dedicated electric architecture, and integrated vehicle technologies intended for both trail use and daily driving. The model retains recognizable JeepĀ® design characteristics while incorporating battery-electric propulsion and digitally integrated vehicle systems.
The 2026 JeepĀ® Recon produces 650 horsepower and 620 lb.-ft. of torque through front and rear Stellantis-designed electric drive modules. The propulsion system provides immediate torque delivery without requiring engine rpm buildup, which supports low-speed control during off-road driving and quick acceleration during on-road operation. Depending on trim configuration, the 2026 JeepĀ® Recon accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in as little as 3.6 seconds. The SUV also provides an estimated all-electric driving range of up to 250 miles.
Electric Drive Modules and Four-Wheel Drive Performance
The 2026 JeepĀ® Recon uses dual electric drive modules rated at 250 kilowatts each. These modules combine electric motors, gearing, and power electronics into compact assemblies intended to support packaging efficiency and vehicle balance. The rear electric drive module on the Moab trim uses a 15:1 final drive ratio to increase torque multiplication during demanding trail situations. This configuration assists with climbing uneven surfaces, navigating low-speed obstacles, and maintaining traction during technical driving conditions. The rear axle also includes an electronic locking differential that allows the driver to switch from an open differential to a locked setup when additional traction is required.
The front electric drive module uses an 11:1 final drive ratio with an open differential arrangement that balances off-road capability and on-road ride quality. Automatic front axle disconnects improve efficiency during standard driving conditions by allowing rear-drive operation when appropriate.
Engineers calibrated the throttle pedal to provide controlled torque application during off-road driving. The tuning supports gradual power delivery across uneven terrain and reduces abrupt wheel movement during technical trail maneuvers. The instant torque characteristics of the electric propulsion system also assist with low-speed vehicle control.
Battery System and Structural Protection

The JeepĀ® brand-exclusive Selec-TerrainĀ® traction management system includes multiple drive settings intended for varying weather and terrain conditions. Available modes include Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand, and Rock on the Moab trim.
Rock mode includes software calibrations designed specifically for technical off-road conditions. Throttle response is adjusted to support gradual movement across uneven surfaces and low-speed trail obstacles. The mode also supports a two-pedal driving technique intended for improved precision during technical driving situations.
Hill hold functionality is integrated into Rock mode. This system allows the driver to transition from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal without unintended vehicle movement during incline operation.
The Selec-TerrainĀ® system coordinates traction delivery, throttle sensitivity, and drivetrain behavior to optimize control across varying terrain conditions. The software integration supports consistent torque application during changing surface conditions.
